Richard Mawer works directly with you. No account managers. No juniors.

The gap between strategy and results

Most businesses know what they need to do. Very few actually do it.

The gap between knowing and doing is where most growth plans fail. The strategy is clear, the actions are agreed, and then the day-to-day takes over. Priorities shift, momentum stalls, and six months later the plan is still sitting in a document somewhere.

The 12-Month Business Growth Consultancy exists to close that gap. Richard works alongside your business throughout the year, keeping the strategy on track, adapting to what the data shows, and providing the external perspective and accountability that most owner-managers cannot get from inside their own business.

How it works

A working relationship, not a series of meetings.

The programme is structured around regular working sessions, monthly performance reviews, and quarterly strategic reviews. Between sessions, Richard is available for questions, input, and support. The programme adapts to what the business needs, not to a rigid plan that ignores reality.

Two sessions per month

Two structured working sessions with Richard each month, typically two hours each. One is a strategic review and planning session. The other is a working session focused on a specific area of the programme.

Monthly performance review

Every month ends with a review of the performance dashboard. What is working, what is not, what changes are needed. The programme adapts to what the data shows, not to a fixed plan that ignores reality.

Quarterly strategic review

Every three months, a deeper strategic review assesses progress against the 12-month targets, adjusts priorities for the next quarter, and ensures the programme is focused on the highest-value activities.

Ongoing support between sessions

Between sessions, Richard is available for questions, reviews, and input via email and messaging. You are not on your own between the monthly calls. The programme is a working relationship, not a series of isolated meetings.

The programme

Four quarters. Four phases. One year of sustained growth.

Each quarter has a defined focus and a set of outcomes. The programme builds on itself: foundations in quarter one, momentum in quarter two, scale in quarter three, and sustained growth embedded in quarter four.

Quarter One: Months 1–3

Foundations: Lay the foundations for consistent, measurable growth.

The first quarter is about getting the fundamentals right. If the strategy has been built in the 12-Week Growth Strategy Creation programme, this quarter begins execution. If you are starting here, the first four weeks are dedicated to understanding the business before anything is changed. Either way, by the end of month three, the core growth foundations are in place.

Confirm or complete the growth strategy and commercial targets
Sharpen the ideal client profile and market positioning
Review and restructure the offer architecture if needed
Launch the first lead generation campaigns
Implement the sales process and pipeline structure
Set up the performance dashboard and reporting rhythm

Quarter outcomes

A clear commercial direction with agreed 12-month targets
Lead generation activity live and generating enquiries
A structured sales process in place and being used
A performance dashboard showing the numbers that matter

Quarter Two: Months 4–6

Momentum: Build momentum and start converting strategy into revenue.

The second quarter is where the work starts to compound. The foundations are in place, the data is coming in, and the focus shifts to optimising what is working and fixing what is not. Lead generation campaigns are refined, the sales process is tightened, and the first meaningful revenue results from the programme begin to show.

Review and optimise lead generation campaigns based on data
Tighten the sales process based on real conversion data
Build the client experience and referral system
Address the highest-priority operational bottlenecks
Develop the content and marketing assets that support growth
Review the offer and pricing based on market feedback

Quarter outcomes

Lead generation campaigns optimised and performing
Conversion rates improving with a structured sales process
Client experience and referral system in place
Operational bottlenecks addressed and capacity freed up

Quarter Three: Months 7–9

Scale: Scale what is working and build the systems to support it.

By quarter three, you know what is working. The focus now is on scaling the activities that are generating the best results, building the systems and processes that allow growth without proportionally increasing workload, and developing the team capability to sustain what has been built.

Scale the highest-performing lead generation channels
Build or strengthen the systems supporting growth activity
Develop team capability and capacity for sustained growth
Introduce automation where it reduces workload without reducing quality
Expand into new market segments or offer extensions identified in the data
Review and update the 12-month roadmap based on results

Quarter outcomes

Highest-performing channels scaled with increased investment
Systems and processes supporting growth without adding headcount
Team capability developed and growth activity more distributed
Automation reducing repetitive workload in key areas

Quarter Four: Months 10–12

Sustain: Embed the growth system and plan the next stage.

The final quarter is about making the growth permanent. The systems, processes, and habits built over the previous nine months are embedded into the business so they continue to work without Richard's direct involvement. The year ends with a full review, a clear picture of what has been achieved, and a strategy for the next 12 months.

Embed growth systems and processes into the business permanently
Develop internal capability to sustain and extend what has been built
Complete a full 12-month review against the original targets
Identify the highest-value opportunities for the next stage
Build the strategy and plan for year two
Agree the ongoing support model if continued engagement is appropriate

Quarter outcomes

Growth systems embedded and running without external support
Full 12-month review completed with results documented
Year-two strategy and plan in place
Clear picture of what the business has achieved and where it is going

Think about this

A part-time marketing manager costs £25,000 to £35,000 per year in salary alone, before employer's National Insurance, pension, and the time it takes to manage them. The 12-Month Business Growth Consultancy gives you a senior growth partner with direct experience of building businesses to seven figures, for a fraction of that cost, and with no employment risk.

Starting point

The best starting point for the 12-Month Consultancy is the 12-Week Growth Strategy Creation programme. Clients who begin with the strategy programme can start executing from month one of the consultancy, which accelerates results significantly.
